About The One Broadband
The One Broadband exclusively delivers full-fibre broadband with superfast symmetrical speeds and a powerful WiFi 6 router as standard. They aim to provide a simple, fast and reliable broadband service to keep you connected.
The One is a full-fibre-only provider that promises high speeds, symmetrical connections and a fresh take on broadband simplicity.
If your area is covered - and it may well be, given that they are the largest 100% full-fibre provider in the UK - The One would be a strong choice for any kind of user.
Exclusively full-fibre
The One delivers full-fibre broadband - also known as fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) - which provides an internet connection via a dedicated fibre optic cable, directly into your home. By contrast, more traditional connections use copper telephone wires, which can result in data bottlenecks and, subsequently, less reliability and slower speeds.
All of which is to say that, with their focus on full-fibre, The One are able to deliver lightning fast, reliable internet to their customers.
In addition, their plans are all fully symmetrical (where available), which means upload speeds match download speeds. This is actually pretty rare, especially in the larger providers, and helps deliver a smoother, more consistent experience.
WiFi that wows
All of The One’s broadband plans come with a Wi-Fi 6 router as standard, which is a big plus for modern homes full of multiple devices.
Routers are matched to tariff speed so the model you’ll get depends entirely on the package you choose. Practically, it means that you’re more likely to get the most out of your fibre connection - full-speed performance, rather than being bottlenecked by underpowered hardware.
In addition, because the routers are WiFi 6, they support newer standards like better handling of multiple devices, lower latency and more efficient data transmission. All in all it should prove an above-average setup for most users.
Great customer experience
Customers report a generally positive experience with The One. They’ve scored highly on Trustpilot, with many customers praising their professionalism and reliability, and the fact that they ‘get exactly what’s promised’.
In terms of customer service, every customer gets access to The One app, as well as support options via phone, email or even WhatsApp. Although some customers have reported slower response times over the latter two options.
Their online Help Centre is well organised too: there are guides on setup and router configuration, and FAQ sections for billing, account changes and troubleshooting.
Competitive pricing
The One keeps things simple with three main tariffs - Fast, Faster and Fastest - with entry-level pricing starting at £29 per month. For that you’ll get 150Mbps (upload and download), which should be more than enough for most households.
If you want more bang for your buck, the Fastest tier will give you an absolutely massive 2.2Gbps - for a much higher monthly price, of course.
It’s worth noting that the standard contract term is 18 months minimum, but The One promises no mid-contract price rises, which should offer customers a little more financial stability.
The One Broadband highlights
- Genuine full fibre with symmetrical speeds where available.
- Up to 2.2Gbps speeds available
- WiFi 6 router included with every package
- Transparent pricing and no hidden mid-contract price hikes.
- Good reliability, especially compared to older copper or hybrid providers.
