The project will focus on homes and businesses in those hard-to-reach rural areas.
Worcester-based ISP Airband has won a contract to help rollout full fibre broadband to more premises in East Cheshire.
The project, which will cost around £4.5 million, will aim to target over 4,000 homes and businesses in its hard-to-reach rural areas.
According to ISPreview, it will start sometime in early 2021 and is expected to last until March 2023.
Thanks to the government supported Connecting Cheshire programme, more than 95% of homes and businesses across Cheshire East, Cheshire West, Chester, Halton and Warrington have access to superfast broadband, so 30Mbps or over.
According to last year’s Open Market Review however, around 28,000 premises across the whole county are still in need of better broadband.
Airband have previously announced their plans to expand their ultrafast FTTP (fibre-to-the-premise) out to 500,000 UK premises by the end of 2025.
“The fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) deal with Airband comes at a key time during the pandemic, to provide optimum connectivity to homeworkers and businesses across Cheshire East,” said councillor Nick Mannion.
“The innovative methods to connect hard-to-reach and rural areas will certainly boost work productivity and streaming family entertainment services during national lockdown and beyond.”
